Our client seeks a Banking Operations Director to join their team.
You will have primary responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions. Working closely with the Managing Director and the Board, you will devise and implement strategies that enhance overall performance; whilst ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through innovation and efficiencies.
This position will ensure efficient and effective management of Payments & Operations, First Line Risk / Health & Safety, IT, and Project Management. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong operational background and the ability to drive internal performance to support the overarching growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies.
- Oversee Payments & Operations, ensuring smooth/efficient/accurate transaction processing and customer service, with appropriate internal monitoring and reporting.
- Lead the first line Risk function, ensuring robust risk management practices are in place and monitor key operational risk indicators (KRIs).
- Establish / monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and effectiveness, including production of insightful MI for key internal/external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
- Oversee ICT function, ensuring the technology infrastructure supports its operational needs and remains competitive.
- Lead key projects, to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven board level experience in a senior operational or similar executive leadership role, in the banking and financial services industry
- Post graduate degree in a relevant topic
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Prince 2) are advantageous
- A strong working knowledge of banking systems and procedures
- A solid and practical understanding of banking risk and regulatory requirements
- Very good practical experience of project management processes and related industry standards
- Experience in using a variety of business software applications including Power BI or similar
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) with effective interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
