Our client seeks a Compliance Officer to join their team.
You will be responsible for monitoring, advising, training and reporting risk and compliance matters and issues relating to the legal, fiduciary and corporate services businesses primarily in the Isle of Man. This role involves close and regular interaction with various members of the Accounting, Banking, Investment, Middle Office and Risk & Compliance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking compliance monitoring of licensing requirements, regulatory obligations, group policies and procedures (including reporting) for licensed entities and individuals in the Isle of Man, which may also include other jurisdictions.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the local compliance monitoring plan with applicable regulations through diagnostics, gap analysis and impact studies.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate written procedures and registers to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and group policies, in order to demonstrate to the FSA that the business seeks to adequately manage its compliance risks.
- Ensure that all affected entities make the necessary regulatory returns and notifications (including data protection notifications), and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, group policies and procedures in connection with data protection obligations.
- Promote a culture of compliance & risk awareness and provide training (including AML/CTF training) to staff in the relevant entities.
Key Skills & Experience
- Degree level qualification, or equivalent, ideally in Business, Finance, Law or Compliance and Risk Management.
- At least 1-2 years' relevant work experience in the Corporate and Trust Services or Financial Services Industry, preferably within a compliance, audit or legal environment.
- Knowledge of the Isle of Man Financial Industry and regulatory framework.
- Organised, with the ability to work autonomously and deal with a busy workload.
- Prepared to get heavily involved in the running of the compliance and risk function.
- Self-motivated, mature and able to use initiative.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel).
- Confidence to deliver practical compliance advice, balancing risk management and commercial considerations.
- Proven experience of working in a challenging and fast-moving environment, preferably cross multiple jurisdictions and with complex products.
