Our client seeks a Ship Manager to join their team.
 
Role Profile:  The Ship Manager is a support role within the Fleet Operations department. Applicants need to be open to a flexible approach to working as some out of hours and on call periods will be required. Periods of travel off Island are also required for meetings, dockings etc.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible to the Fleet Operations Manager for the performance of their duties.
  • Responsible in observing the Company Safety and Environmental Policy in all aspects of their assigned duties.
  • Assisting the Marine Manager and Technical Manager maintaining Company vessels in good order and fit for purpose with particular regard to Statutory and Classification Society requirements. Liaising with Senior Ships Officers to assist the Technical Manager and Marine Manager to produce dry dock specifications and project work scopes.
  • Assisting the Marine Manager with any tasks but specifically relating to ISPS and the Cyber Security Officer with tasks relating to Cyber Security.
  • Contribute to the continued effectiveness of the Company's Safety Management System and Management structure.
  • Assisting to ensure Non-Conformances and Defects are identified, recorded and analysed and that all necessary precautions have been taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Assisting with processing requisitions, obtaining quotes, producing purchase orders and following up the same.
  • Responsible for the management and updating of the Marine Store Keeper System for all vessels and assist the Stores Administrator in maintaining the stores in a clean and organised manner.
  • Acting as the Deputy DPA/CSO undertaking these roles when rostered and during periods of official leave.
  • Understudying the Marine Manager and/or Technical Manager with a view to career progression.
  • Ensure that all hazardous materials procured for all managed vessels must comply with the requirements outlined in IMO conventions, including but not limited to MARPOL Annexes, SOLAS, and the Hong Kong Convention.
 
Key Skills and Experience:
  • A-II/2 or A-III/2 CoC minimum.
  • Marine background with recent seagoing experience
  • Experience in Ro-Pax operations preferably in Northern Europe
  • Highly developed organisational and communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and able to multi task
  • Strong communication skills
