Our client seeks a Security and Internet Services Engineer to join their team.
Role Profile: Responsible for the active management, support, design and development of security and Internet services estate. To propose and develop appropriate operational, maintenance and provisioning procedures to ensure the reliability of the security and ISP estate meets customer needs and service levels. To work with wider teams to support security strategy and operational objectives
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage SIEM
- Manage firewall estate
- Manage Linux server estate
- Manage and maintain public DNS (Authoritative and Recursive)
- Manage and maintain SSL certificate lifecycles
- Manage monitoring and alerting tools
- Vulnerability management and mitigation
- Produce and maintain up to date and accurate documentation, such as operational procedures, etc
- Work with the Security Architect to review assets, identify weaknesses and ensure appropriate security is maintained
- Support the Security Architect in reviewing, implementing and ensuring the security strategy is implemented
- If/when potential weaknesses, attacks, intrusions, unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity are identified, assist in the implementation of mitigations, including vulnerability management
- Investigate security alerts and provide incident response within the Security and Internet Services domain
- Support as required, from within the Security and Internet Services domain, integration with the security technology and tools
- Support latest patch management and secure configuration best practises
- Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders
- Support the design, operations and maintenance of new and evolution of existing security systems
- Liaise with stakeholders and assist with internal audit
- To take a fully active role in the standby and call out scheme with a contractual obligation to provide call out cover on a rota basis
- To work off-Island when required to do so
- To be aware of performance standards for the group
- To undertake supervision and co-ordination of other team members (when appropriate), consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors working on networks/systems that the team have responsibility for
- Understand and comply with the licence and other regulatory rules, Data Protection Law applying to the position
- Understand and comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities relevant to the role as defined in the Safety Policy
- Work in accordance with the safety procedures and safe working policies
- Undertake appropriate security awareness training covering information security, data protection, financial crime and payment card data and comply with their information security responsibilities.
Key Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience of operating and maintaining Checkpoint firewalls, a Check Point qualification would be highly desirable
- Experience configuring and maintaining security technologies such as, IPS, vulnerability scanning and patch management, log correlation and SIEM
- Experience administrating Linux operating systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, & troubleshooting skills
- Highly motivated individual
- Well organised and methodical
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff at all levels
Highly Desirable:
- Experience administering DNS servers (BIND or PowerDNS preferred)
- Experience of Red Hat Linux
- Experience or prior knowledge of vulnerability and patch management platforms, such as Qualys
- Experience of managing VMWare

- Due to the nature of this position, the postholder must hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure.
