Our client seeks a Tax Controller to join their team
Role Profile: You will be part of the Finance leadership team, ensuring comprehensive tax compliance and strategic tax planning across the organisation. The role is crucial in establishing a high-performing finance function that balances financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence. The Tax Controller will partner with senior executives to support the company's strategic and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive tax strategy that aligns with business goals and supports the company's long-term financial sustainability.
- Collaborate with senior executives to provide strategic tax insights and recommendations to drive business growth.
- Oversee and act as the primary lead for the organization's responses to changes in the global tax landscape such that it is well positioned to adapt to them.
- Ensure the sufficiency of tax controls across finance functions to meet reporting requirements, maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain the Group's tax risk management policy and transfer pricing master file as it evolves with changes to the global tax environment.
- Design, develop and implement the Group's GloBE/Pillar2 compliance framework as well as for equivalent incoming legislation as it arises such as the EU's ViDA expansion.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of tax reporting for the Group and legal entity Board of Directors as required.
- Collaborate with the other Finance functions to ensure that decision-making incorporates the various needs of a robust Tax Compliance environment.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of various types of tax filings for all legal entities, ensuring compliance with local and international standards. This to include direct and indirect tax filings in the relevant jurisdiction either directly or through the group's Agents.
- Oversee gaming duty submissions for the jurisdictions in which the group operates, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Ensure internal control requirements are compliant with the relevant tax
- needs as they arise.
- Coordinate and manage external tax advisory and other related engagements, acting as the primary point of contact for Tax resolving any issues that arise
- The above duties provide a generic description of the Employee's day to day responsibilities but should in no way be deemed to be an exhaustive list. Additional related, duties may be assigned by the Line Manager in line with business exigencies and continuity
Key Skills and Experience:
- Relevant degree in economics, accounting or tax.
- Able to demonstrate significant direct and indirect tax exposure, with an understanding of VAT accounting and invoicing requirements for various regions.
- A demonstrable ability and tool kit for gaining tax knowledge of jurisdictions outside of current range of experience.
- This role may also be suitable for candidates with a suitable accounting background looking to make the leap into a more tax focused role.
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong experience with advanced Excel functions
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Navision is a plus
- Experience with Isle of Man, Malta and UK VAT regulations is a plus
- Experience in the online gaming industry is a plus
- Will be an enthusiastic team player with ability to work flexibly in an ever-changing work environment.
- Good written and verbal English language skills essential.
